Thank goodness. This is.

The sign that I and other michigan's have been waiting to see from Dana Nessel. I applaud her for taking a stand to protect the rights of our trans gender brothers and sisters.

Excellent. Would that Newsom had done the same. :spits:

Newsom needs to fear the pack of pols is leaving him behind. Right now he's riding high as Mr Resistor -- but he'll turn, for better or worse, if others grab the initiative from him.

This discussion has prompted me to change my .sig block to:

"If we’ve learned anything in this war, it’s that you don’t defend your future by waiting for permission.

And you don’t survive empires by believing they’ll stop on their own." 🇺🇦

~Viktor Kravchuk

That's just as relevant to the struggle we're facing as Transgender folk!

Thankfully at least one AG will move to make sure that a states laws are upheld and force hospitals and health facilities to follow state law instead of bending the knee to this racist administration

We need all these hospitals, colleges, universities, and companies to stop bending the knee if they all did that these racists could not get away with what they are doing IT’s TIME TO STAND UP AND PUSH BACK !!!

Agree!! There’s FAR more of us than there are of them and if we all stand up and resist, push back, protest, etc, they *will* fail in their efforts to burn this country to the ground.

At least one Blue State AG has the courage to do their damned job and protect ALL of the citizens in their state.

I have many, MANY issues with our AG, but this was the right move, and reading her press release last night made me happy.

On the other side, she went above and beyond to charge seven of the pro-Palestinian protestors from our (U-M's) campus with felonies and misdemeanors simply for protesting. She ended up dropping them after we counter-protested and fought like hell: https://www.freep.com/story/news/local/michigan/2025/05/05/michigan-attorney-general-dana-nessel-drops-all-charges-university-michigan-diag-protesters/83452242007/. I work for the university, and I'm a member of our staff union. U-M has been dismantling everything good about it in favor of acquiescing to Trump's threats/demands. (If you haven't read about our late president's destruction of our DEI program, so he could hope to win the presidency at the University of Florida, which he didn't, I recommend doing so.)

We need more of this from other blue states. What will work best is specific consequences if hospitals violate state law.

Good on you, AG Nessel! I’m wondering why Letitia James in New York isn’t doing the same; she probably has her hands full at the moment…

The impact of Michigan Medicine’s decision is devastating to our community and state. Michigan is an academic, research and cultural powerhouse, both in our state and nationally, and to have them so quickly and needlessly capitulate to fascism is terrifying. Our state is deep purple and resources for the trans community are already very limited and this betrayal makes the situation even worse. If Michigan can fall to fascism this easily and quickly nothing anywhere is safe.

I wish that Connecticut's govenor had done this when both Yale and Hartford Health Care hospitals bent the knee to this regime.

I think it may be time to find a new candidate for govenor.

Why don't like-minded State AGs pool their resources and challenge it in court?

Does anyone know the situation here in MA? If hospitals have ended care, I will write to our AG to suggest following Nessel's lead.

As far as I know no programs have ended in MA. I know youth at most of them and everyone is receiving the care they require.

If the president can order anything he wants, you don't have a constitution. All you have is violence and threats to the civilian populace.

Turning and turning in the widening gyre the falcon cannot hear the falconer;

Things fall apart;

the centre cannot hold;

Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,

The blood-dimmed tide is loosed,

and everywhere the ceremony of innocence is drowned;

The best lack all conviction,

while the worst are full of passionate intensity.
