This is wonderful news…hope it passes. Of course, the effectiveness of such legislation is only as good as the state’s and localities’ willingness to ienforce it - there’s always that caveat.
One striking thing is the ever-widening cultural and legislative gap between red and blue states - while Maryland is proposing this progressive legislation, meanwhile Kansas ripped drivers licenses away from its trans folks without a grace period, and Idaho classified bathroom use as a possible felony. This chasm is sickening…there’s very little “united” about the United States when it comes to trans policy.
This is great news. I hope it becomes law!
Yay! I need some good news. Thanks!
Maryland HB 649 is about fairness, safety, and equal opportunity for every student — including transgender youth.
No student should face discrimination simply for being who they are.
This bill strengthens civil rights protections in our schools and ensures accountability when those rights are violated.
Supporting HB 649 means supporting dignity, inclusion, and safe learning environments for all.
Support HB649 Trans Rights Are HumanRights, Equality In Education
Amen! God bless the state of Maryland! Let's hope it passes and acts as a pull factor away from red states!

Thanks for sharing this good news!
Amazing to see state legislation that protects our community, and especially our youth who are in need of some wins.
Maybe it's just that I'm so starved for any good news, but perhaps we're seeing a rise in resistance and maybe the hint of a wave of acceptance??
So mote it be. TY, Erin.
YES! Safe states get aggressively safer!
Woo Hoo!!! Go Maryland!
Praise crabs and old bay! This is great news
Idaho, Ohio, Iowa and all you other stupid states. Take note, this how you look after your citizens.
