True to form, the anti-trans craze proved once again that it comes for all women, eventually. Trone Garriott’s decision to align herself with hate did not save her.
Interestingly, on her campaign website she doesn't even mention the HRC endorsement among the list of organization endorsements she has received. So apparently she is keeping open the option to throw the LG&B under the bus as well. BTW, HRC seems to have also endorsed Eugene Vindman, and that happened after his anti-trans congressional vote this past spring, so it's not like HRC are also willing to keep us on a lower tier of priority.
HRC themselves have often thrown the “T” under the bus when reaching out for a “compromise”, so I’m not surprised to see them do this when endorsing a candidate.
Sands, Garriott, and Moulton—these three apparently competing for the prestigious “Who Can Make the Most Noise About Transgender People?” award. It must be exhausting finding new ways to pretend someone else’s existence is their biggest political problem.
Sands and Garriott seem convinced that Iowa’s bathrooms are on the brink of collapse unless they personally police who walks through the door. Forget the economy, healthcare, education, infrastructure, or anything else that actually affects people’s lives. Nope—apparently the bathroom is where civilization must make its final stand.
And Moulton? He apparently looked at this political circus and thought, “Move over, boys—I can pander too!” Nothing demonstrates political courage quite like throwing a vulnerable minority under the bus because you think it might win a few votes.
Here’s the hilarious part: Sands, Garriott, and Moulton seem to think attacking transgender people makes them look tough. It doesn’t. It makes them look like politicians who ran out of serious ideas and decided bigotry was easier.
Keep ranting, gentlemen. Keep manufacturing outrage. Keep treating transgender people like convenient political punching bags.
Because every time you do, you make one thing crystal clear: you have chosen your politics over basic decency—and voters have every right to remember that when they enter the voting booth.
I'll keep saying it: why would transphobes vote for the milquetoast democrat trans hate when they can vote for unadulterated republican trans hate?
All these Dems have to lose to make sure the party stays on track defending civil rights for all of us.
