This is so disappointing because with Obama’s endorsement he doesn’t have to scoop down to that level to win. And it is hurtful to have this hateful rhetoric to come from someone who also belongs to a marginalized and a vulnerable population.
O for God's sake - every damn Democrat in a close race has chosen to make the trans community their get-out-of-losing card. And these are our "friends..."
In Germany today there are frequent publications (in mainstream news) on studies showing that when moderate conservative parties attempt to co-opt votes from the extreme right by moving closer to their positions, they *lose* votes. Why take an imitation when you can get the real thing? That's basically how people look at it, and there are vanishingly few voters who are just dying to support Democratic economic policies but can't stand their "woke social agenda."
In Germany there are multiple parties to choose from, so it isn't hurting liberals as much. But here it will just further cement Republican (= fascist) strength.
For the rest of my days I will never forget the sting of betrayal I have felt over the past few years. The cowardice, the lying, the sheer hunger for power. Make no mistake: these people aren’t being strategic - they are cowardly losers with no moral or ideological core beyond their own self-advancement.
I will endeavor for all of my days to stop, defeat, and salt the earth over which their political careers are buried.
I'll never understand how they think this is a winning strategy. People blame the consultants but it's ultimately on the candidate to decide what's right. By acquiescing to the far right on incremental rights, all that does is embolden them to take more and it NEVER stops.
And nice job talking out of both sides of your face. I don't discriminate cuz I'm disabled BUT I *DO* discriminate against trans people cuz I just might be able to get a bigot or two to vote for me. Despicable.
Well, there it is. The least concerning topic among voters, and so somehow the immediate go-to for Democratic candidates. Corruption? $7.49/gallon diesel? Forever wars? Nah, it’s the transgender folks, because the Republican candidates said so.
“When they go right, we go right” as a platform is weak tea. Bashing a tiny fraction of the population and ignoring science in favor of populist hate promotions is how Democrats and Republicans want to roll?
They’re starting to make the Democratic Socialists of America and their silly “purity tests as a platform” look good.
"Like" here means agree with objecting to the shameful and, frankly, disgusting, totally unnecessary, and self-destructive article Turek has posted. I can't believe -- but I apparently must -- that he actually thinks that this would cause a single Republiscum to change its mind and vote for him. And he must certainly -- presumably? -- know that he has shot himself not in the foot, but in the groin.
I'm not T myself, so except as a human being, this does not personally affect me. But if elected, it would surely affect others. And at best, it moves him from "clearly the better of the candidates" to "the better of two evils."
Here we go again! I simply cannot understand why some Democrats keep repeating this rhetoric. Aren’t we supposed to stand for diversity, inclusion, and equal treatment for all people, regardless of race, national origin, health, or personal circumstances?
Should we single out people living with mental health conditions, cancer, or alcoholism and use them as political punching bags? Of course not! So why is it acceptable to single out the transgender and LGBTQ+ communities?
I am sick and tired of seeing these communities treated as convenient targets for political gain. Every person deserves dignity, respect, and the freedom to live without being turned into a scapegoat. That principle should not change simply because a particular group is politically convenient to attack.
I would love to put all these politicians in one room and ask them a simple question: On what factual basis are you singling out these communities, and what do you hope to accomplish by doing so? What evidence justifies treating our fellow Americans this way?
If Democrats believe in equality and inclusion, then they need to stand by those principles when it matters—not abandon them when political pressure mounts. Human dignity should never be negotiable, and no community should have to fight for the basic respect that every American deserves.
He begins his ad by saying that he knows what it's like to be discriminated against, and then he goes on to advocate discrimination against people he doesn't like. F that guy.
Why do marginalized people feel the need to cut down another marginalized group? It would've been so nice if the ad continued with standing up for trans folks since he thinks no one should be discriminated against. That would've been powerful...but nope, he had to go there. And please, tax dollars paying for gender surgery? How about tax dollars paying for a genocide? And a ballroom, and all the other stupid corrupt stuff the orange bafoon is doing. Give me a break...infuriating.
sick of these political pedos going after an innocent minority while protecting their pedophile friends. our government is sex trafficking kids and this is what gets the attention of the hicks. these people are all vile animals and should be put down

Agree 💯, Artur. Turek is letting us all down. I wonder if he even believes this hateful shit? If yes, then he’s no better than his R opponent.

Another piece of shit I'll have to call or write to. I'm sick of dems doing this. Can't trust even the dems.
I smiled when I read your post. I thought the very same thing. "Another piece of shit I'll have to call or write to"

"Start focusing on issues that affect everyday Iowans by first discriminating against trans people."
This dude can throw trans ppl under the bus all he wants but that ain't gonna do sh*t for Iowa's farmers.
~ Proud Masshole (sorta odd how we're pro trans AND have the number one healthcare system in the country, maybe Turek could take some notes)
I hope he loses!

Are we sure these turncoats are Democrats? Or are they another John Fetterman? 🤔
It sure makes you wonder, Matt. Fetterman, Joe Manchin and Kirsten Sinema … DINOs all the way.
