If anyone is going to save us from this mess, it will be black women. It definitely won’t be weak men or white women.

Black women have been the strongest anti-GOP electoral demographic in the Tea Party-Freedom Caucus-MAGA -Neonazi-Republikkkans have lost their damned minds-era, since 2008, by 10+ points. If Dems were SMART, they would use their resources to lift up Black women, who have PROVEN they can organize, inspire, execute, and deliver...but Dems are so very dedicated to LOSING and addicted to DEFEAT, I doubt they will.

Hey respectfully I’m pretty sure this is harmful rhetoric and I think you should rethink the comment. Like you’re just shifting the burden of responsibility onto another victimized population…

That's very interesting. I haven't seen where a whole lot of white women have been speaking up in the Government. Maybe I'm missing it. As a white woman myself I am absolutely appalled at almost EVERY single white person who is just sitting with their head pulled down Latinx and Black and mixed heritage woman are the ones SCREAMING from the hilltops.

Harmful rhetoric my ass. When half of the majority 'race' in America starts speaking up I'll consider what Sara above said harmful rhetoric. 74% of this nation is white according to the last census, and at least half of that are women. If they were all stepping up to the plate the men would be drowning in the voices of uplifted women.

But hey, guess what? I hear crickets.

Not the minorities. They're screaming their lungs out. And they're taking the brunt of the assault.

Don't get me wrong - there ARE white women doing this, too. But let's get real here, if the white populace of America wanted their voices heard, they would be. But once again . . . . crickets.

I think Sara's comment isn't shifting any burdens - it's identifying them as she sees them already.

Seriously, I thought the same thing and was going to comment. Thanks. May we stay strong and in solidarity with each other.

Thanks. In 2024 white women supported trump by 8 points, a landslide.

I believe her. Thank goodness we do have allies.

Glad to see NY AG and the ACLU will be suing. I hope that other AG's will have the balls to stand up as well and do what is right. I have also sent the following letter to my senators and to Chuck Schumer as well I will also be sending this my Governor- Elect in NJ

Subject: Vote NO on Any Legislation That Restricts or Eliminates Transgender Health Care

Leader Jeffries, Senator Kim, and Senator Schumer,

I am demanding—clearly and unequivocally—that you vote against any and all legislation that seeks to restrict, defund, delay, or eliminate transgender health care in any form.

Bills targeting transgender care are not “policy differences.” They are acts of state-sanctioned harm. They endanger lives, strip people of medically necessary care, and legitimize discrimination under the false cover of governance. There is no moral, medical, or constitutional justification for these measures.

I expect you to use every legitimate legislative and procedural tool available to block, defeat, and dismantle any attempt to interfere with gender-affirming care—whether buried in budgets, attached as riders, fast-tracked through committees, or disguised as “parental” or “religious” protections. There must be zero compromise and zero cooperationwith efforts that criminalize doctors, terrorize families, and target transgender people for political gain.

Silence, delay, or half-measures will be understood as complicity. Your constituents are watching, and history will remember who stood firm and who allowed cruelty to pass under procedural excuses.

Vote NO. Block these bills completely. Do your jobs and defend the rights, dignity, and lives of transgender people—without apology and without retreat.

Sincerely,

This is great, thank you for sharing!

This is awesome, Mike! Thank you so much! My letters were not nearly as effectively stated as yours. This will become my new standard.

If the Governor signs out shield law 2.0 and the two companion bills, AG James will be more empowered to protect trans people in NY and other states, as well as professionals who provide GAHC. We need to Governor to sign each bill in the package.

Some resistance to a New Hampshire bathroom bill on the floor of the NH House, reported here: https://newhampshirebulletin.com/2025/12/17/republicans-fail-to-override-vetoes-of-book-ban-bathroom-bills-vow-to-return-to-issues/

In a speech, Rep. Alice Wade, a Dover Democrat who is transgender, announced she would be reading a list of transgender people who were targeted and killed or died by suicide in the past year. Several Republican representatives groaned.

After about four minutes of the list, two representatives attempted to prevent Wade from continuing. Deputy Speaker Steven Smith ruled against both attempts. “I know that I have stood at the well and said many things that people wished I wasn’t saying,” he said. “That doesn’t negate my right to say it.” The House later formally voted to allow Wade to continue.

“If my words can’t get through to you, I hope their names stick with you every time these bills come up,” Wade said. “For transgender people, this damage is not theoretical. Our identities are not masks we can put on and take off. This is our lives.”

The problem with lawsuits in this situation is that the administration can just escalate it to the Supreme Court on the shadow docket, as they did with passports. That will virtually guarantee a 6-3 ruling in the administration’s favor. So lawsuits will buy - at the absolute most- temporary relief.

The situation with trans youth - and trans people in general - in the US is dire. It has been plainly evident for a long time that they have no stopping point, and as bad as things are now, they will get even worse. Probably beyond the point where any future Democratic administration can really repair the damage.

I agree there is a very plausible dark path here. If SCOTUS does what we sadly expect, hospitals will end care and even if a future Democratic administration reverses the federal rules, it would be up to hospitals to decide whether to bring care back. Some might, but I fear some if not many would decide not to.

As far as allies go, we could do a lot worse than someone who's proven she can slap Trump's whiny ass up one side of a courtroom and down the other. I hope she brings the same fire to this fight as her other standoffs with that walking condom commercial of a man.

I'm so glad we live in NY. Tish James is amazing. I hope other AG's in other blue states take the same stance. I'm thankful that we passed PROP 1 last year here. This is protecting us. I'm also thankful that my transgender daughter pushed forward quickly this past year to get the care she needed. But what I don't understand is why all these people care what gender my daughter is. It is none of their business. Thanks for the update.

hasn’t she done nothing, though, to stand up to nyu and other hospitals that have already over complied with earlier executive orders? this proclamation seems empty with that track record.
