As a transgender woman, I've spoken with multiple therapists over time as a necessary component of the medical portion of my gender transition. I can't say I'm a supporter of the heavily medicalized gatekeeping we must navigate in order to transition but considering the ocean of trauma, physical/sexual/mental/emotional abuse and violence, and general hatefulness we must navigate in order to live as our genuine and authentic selves, the help of knowledgeable and affirming providers is welcome. I have embraced the therapeutic processes to my great benefit and self awareness. As a result I have a good deal more insight into who I am as a woman, a human being, and as a member of society and how I can both contribute and also see to it that my needs are met.
Can any super sane super straight super cis vaccine denying election denying sexuality and gender denying, defying goober make the same claim, with the same support from qualified psychotherapeutic practitioners who are able to validate MY status as mentally healthy and well adjusted?
I know god-damnned well they CANNOT.
I suppose we'll just have to issue thoughts and prayers for them that one day they recover from their debilitating hatefest.
The lawsuits for slander and defamation have to start immediately. I don’t have a lot of money, but if someone starts a crowdfunding campaign to support these women, I’m in. I’m no expert on this kind of project. Get someone who knows what they’re doing!!

Instead of focusing on the needs of the people of Alabama, what do they get? Nothing but name-calling, derogatory remarks, and slurs from Republican Party Chair Scott Stadthagen and Danielle Dugger, who is running against one of the two transgender women seeking office and reportedly works for an anti-vaccine group. Both have hurled bigoted and racist slurs at these candidates simply because they are transgender.
IS THIS REALLY WHAT THE PEOPLE OF ALABAMA DESERVE?
The people of Alabama deserve far better than personal attacks and discrimination. They deserve to hear REAL solutions to the problems affecting their daily lives! How will these candidates help lower the cost of gas, groceries, and healthcare? What are their plans to make life more affordable for working families? Those are the questions that matter—not how many insults they can throw at their opponents.
And let's not forget Senator Tommy Tuberville, whose racist positions have also drawn criticism. When will these politicians stop the name-calling and start addressing the issues that actually affect their constituents?
Alabama deserves leadership focused on people's lives, not attacks on people's identities. Voters deserve answers, accountability, and real solutions—not another campaign built on division and discrimination.
I hope that the people of Alabama will get out and vote in November and elect these two women to office.

The two women are warriors for sure. As an ally I can't come close to imagining the courage, strength and bravery it takes. Allison's response to the hate being directed at transgenders and specifically them personally was absolutely perfect. The fact that they were able to get elected in Alabama says so much. Any time a legislator feels comfortable spewing hate like this jerk I find it repulsive that not one ally in the crowd spoke up.
