She voted to roll back access to healthcare nationwide for transgender minors from military families. Now we see an escalation. She is responsible for this. She did not stop it. She wanted to run for higher office and that required such a vote, so she thought. So she calculated. And guess what, our community is too small to make a difference, to stop her. There were many other candidates who offered full throated support of trans rights.

Henry Cuellar, Vicente Gonzalez, Donald Davis, and Terri Sewell ( all form Southern states )voted for Nancy Mace's anti-trans amendments to strip gender-affirming healthcare from service members, retirees, and their families, and to target transgender girls in sports—yet they voted against codifying Trump's transgender military ban.

Meanwhile, no one who supports removal of trans athletes from on-base schools even remotely understands how that works. Any of the schools on an installation IN the US are operated by local school districts and NOT the DOD and are beholden to local district policies. That would create an immediate issue in states like WA where so far participation by trans athletes is protected, legally, at the state level. There’s currently an initiative being fought that would seek to alter course, as of this moment, the state super intendents office and the WA AG would have a strong legal case to fight that amendment because on-base schools are governed by local laws and policies with regards to academics and athletics.
Theoretically, the only schools the athlete ban SHOULD be able to effect are the DOD schools operated on overseas installations.
Danica Roem ran against a Virginia delegate (House member) who publicly characterized himself as Virginia's chief transphobe. She won. Voters like stories about underdogs standing up against their bullies, and they cheer for (vote for) the underdogs.
I think that in 2028, our community should put up a transgender primary opponent for each of these "Democrats." I think we might just expand our presence in Congress.
We will remember those that stood with us during this dark chapter in our history. And those that caused us harm.
