This shows us, once again, that the only difference between the two major parties is WHO they want government to abuse. Now, even the democrats are happy to throw us under the bus for a few votes. We have few political friends. We need to remember who our political enemies are. Not, because we think we can muster the political force to defeat them, but because we can remember these violations when they come to us for future support (and you just KNOW that they will).
I see Vindman was not among them. He was the only one of the prior 8 near to me. I hope friction I gave him played any role in his not making these 5 into 6.

Henry Cuellar, Vicente Gonzalez, Donald Davis, and Terri Sewell ( all form Southern states )voted for Nancy Mace's anti-trans amendments to strip gender-affirming healthcare from service members, retirees, and their families, and to target transgender girls in sports—yet they voted against codifying Trump's transgender military ban.
Make that make sense.
So transgender Americans can raise their right hand, wear the uniform, deploy into harm's way, and risk dying for this country—but when they come home, they're denied the healthcare they need simply because of who they are.
That is hypocrisy of the highest order. You don't get to claim you're defending equality while voting to take away healthcare from the very people willing to defend our nation.
If these bigoted, racist members of Congress are willing to sacrifice transgender Americans for political convenience, then voters should return the favor and retire them at the ballot box.
Never forget moderates like Gov Mikie Sherrill, who just like these Ds voted for the NDAA in 2024. She voted to roll back access to healthcare nationwide for transgender minors from military families. Now we see an escalation. She is responsible for this. She did not stop it. She wanted to run for higher office and that required such a vote, so she thought. So she calculated. And guess what, our community is too small to make a difference, to stop her. There were many other candidates who offered full throated support of trans rights.
Sherrill has reinvented
herself as an ally and touts being able to win her election as an ally. In fact, she simply kept her mouth shut. She never uttered the word transgender through the campaign.
I feel very betrayed, as I can asses for Don Davis. I had no idea he was this anti-progresive and I didn't know he was anti-trans. Now I am sorry I helped him. I was just trying to help as many Democratic candidates so we could get rid of this Republican hold on our state. Guess Don Davis may as well BE Republican.
At this point is a very fair question to ask how any of Cuellar or Gonzalez’ values or policies ever align with Dems as they seem to cross the aisle on quite a few issues.
Meanwhile, no one who supports removal of trans athletes from on-base schools even remotely understands how that works. Any of the schools on an installation IN the US are operated by local school districts and NOT the DOD and are beholden to local district policies. That would create an immediate issue in states like WA where so far participation by trans athletes is protected, legally, at the state level. There’s currently an initiative being fought that would seek to alter course, as of this moment, the state super intendents office and the WA AG would have a strong legal case to fight that amendment because on-base schools are governed by local laws and policies with regards to academics and athletics.
Theoretically, the only schools the athlete ban SHOULD be able to effect are the DOD schools operated on overseas installations.
We will remember those that stood with us during this dark chapter in our history. And those that caused us harm.
All the more reason for me to run against LoBo once my mother and I relocate to Colorado to be near family if she wins reelection this year.
When Democrats fail to stand up for trans rights, I fail to think they should be reelected.
So…gender affirming care for cis people but not trans people? That’s the very definition of unequal treatment.
It should’ve been noted that this is actually less Dems than last year who voted for these amendments.
