I think trans rights is a strength, for our side, this year. Not-future-Gov. Acton missed that boat. It's the discrimination against people, for no reason, that is a thing that can affect people's votes, we've seen the occasional Republican official with a heart say "well I looked at the evidence and it's there", with regard to transgender identity being a sound concept, I say Tim Walz should be prominent in our campaign, double down, say proudly that we will accept no less than an egalitarian, equally fair society.
I’d agree about Tim Walz, but politically, he’s bearing the burden of the Feeding our Future fraud. I’m sure he’ll do what he can, but he’s still a target for Trump so he has to be careful about what issues he draws attention to. (I’m surmising.)
Yeah, I do, too. But I’m also pretty anxious about the whole thing and so I find myself hedging. All the more reason to pushback with frankness.
I’ve been following Asha Rangappa’s substack where she is sharing her journey of discovery while writing her book, Complicity and Courage. The videos of her interviews are behind a paywall but there’s quite a bit of information available in front of the paywall. Compliance, defiance, complicity—choosing when and how.
Dr Sunita Sah, author of Defy, was one her recent guests. She also speaks about this—in her book, in that interview with Asha, and on her Substack page and elsewhere on the web.
Elon Musk has spent enormous amounts of money and influence attacking the transgender community, while his own relationship with his transgender child has become deeply estranged. That history makes his crusade against trans people especially difficult to view objectively.
If Musk wants to use his wealth and platform to wage war on an entire community, he should at least be honest about the personal history that may shape his views. But turning a family conflict into a political campaign against millions of transgender people isn't leadership—it is prejudice amplified by money and power.
No billionaire should get to buy himself a louder voice in attacking someone's identity, dignity, or right to live openly. Transgender people are not political punching bags, and Musk's billions don't make his bigotry any more legitimate.
No matter how many of us they kill, they'll just keep fucking more of us into existence with every succeeding generation. They only way to be rid of us entirely is to wipe out humanity altogether.
The GOP sure is running scared! Elon could have given a billion at least. Or maybe he’s going to help tRump pay out his “$5K to every adult in the US” promise. LOL!
Trotting out the same tired lies about the LGBTQ+ human beings is a recipe for loss. As it should be.
Let’s do our best to vote blue and encourage others to do the same 💙
Pffft... as if a billionaire (trillionaire?) would give a noticeable percentage of his dragon's hoard away to 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 that didn't promise to add another decimal place to it.
I'm also 99% certain Musk was behind the far right candidate win in Germany. And remember, it's not just Musk, it's the entire far right, fascist, Palantir, flock camera, tech bro, Zio, surveillance, misogynist, white supremacist, multi-pronged attack on anything and everything that hints at free speech, diversity, and democracy.
I 𝘥𝘰 so wish Democrats would get that through their thick fucking skulls. They will come for you anyway. They will tell the same lies about you as they tell about us, even if you repeat the same lies. Their base doesn't listen to you; it listens to them. Their media apparatchiks will not fact-check them, and they won't give any brownie points to you. Your capitulation will be known only by the people you betrayed; no one on the other side of the line will notice or care. All you will accomplish is to make their triumph over decency and humanity that much easier by alienating the people you need in your corner if you ever want to restore some semblance of normalcy to this benighted country.
How much money has musk spent in total to try to convince people that trans people are somehow harmful? There's the 100 million for these midterms, over 277 million on the trump campaign, 10 million to desantis, 50 million to "citizens for sanity" in 2024, arguably the twitter purchase at 44 billion was to facilitate transphobia and political machinations, and I'm sure I'm missing a lot. That money all represents actual effort from actual people that could be doing useful things and instead worked to spread lies about trans people because musk hired them.
And all because his own trans daughter- a better person than he could ever be- told him to go piss up a tree for being the abusive shitstain that he is. Temper tantrums that sunder nations- that's the price of allowing one man to accumulate so much wealth.
The last few election cycles have shown that money can no longer buy elections with confidence. It's a bid in an auction (or a gamble; probably a better metaphor), with absolutely no guaranteed payout. Mobilization through grassroots organizing (whether via social media for the younger crowd or other means for us ancients) is turning elections.
Elon Musk is about to get exposed for his election corruption. There is a documentary that is going to be released on October 16. All his starlink election fraud is about to get exposed for everybody to see. He responds by suing for defamation. This is what it looks like when corruption gets exposed. They fight tooth and nail to stop the truth. Trump tried to stop the 1991 documentary on his corruption and free wheeling and dealing in the business world. He sued every TV station that tried to show it. He could not outrun the internet. It is everywhere on the internet now. You are an internet search away from watching it. I never seen it until a few months ago. Same is going to happen with Elon Musk. It would serve Elon Musk right if he ends up in jail or deported. They need a scapegoat to try to blame to wash their hands of corruption. Elon Musk is perfect target since he is an immigrant.
An 𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘭 immigrant. Mustn't forget that part! He violated the terms of his initial visa. By their own rules, he can have his citizenship stripped away and be shipped off to literally anywhere in the world!
Wow! I was JUST talking about the North Sentinelese with a friend a couple days ago. That's a topic that doesn't come up very often, but when it does it's always in a very funny context.
That context is ALMOST always about deporting somebody particularly deserving to North Sentinel Island!
I had not yet considered Musk. Thank you for the suggestion. He goes right to the top of the list. The only thing that concerns me is that he might pass some horrible disease to them. I would want to make sure that he was vaccinated for everything in the world first, fed 15 lb of powerful antibiotics for several weeks first, and scoured with bleach before being pushed out of a helicopter over the beach.
“But Republicans remember how lethal the Trump campaign’s ‘Kamala is for they/them ads were to Kamala Harris’ campaign in 2024.””
Most plausible studies of 2024 pin the blame on Biden’s unpopularity, his staying in too long and economic conditions. I thought centrist Dems were the only people buying that nonsense outside of rightist stooges.
This is pure stupidity. With that much money, he can turn everyone cis either by improving surgical technology or by eliminating the factors that cause someone to be trans. But he instead spends it on hate and hate alone
The Muskrat is just plain weird. Honestly, I think he is, deeply, in the closet. His reaction to his daughter coming out is way, way, way out of proportion. Also, he is an awful person
Fuck Musk! 😡🤬😡

He was gonna be a target regardless because he was the VP pick in ‘24
I dunno, I think we should just go all out, say what we mean. Be the side that has realism.
Yeah, I do, too. But I’m also pretty anxious about the whole thing and so I find myself hedging. All the more reason to pushback with frankness.

Identifying core values and acting in alignment with them.

They might use us as scapegoats and distraction from other issues.
But we are the future.
We are literally human evolution.
And tomorrow belongs to us.
No matter how many of us they kill, they'll just keep fucking more of us into existence with every succeeding generation. They only way to be rid of us entirely is to wipe out humanity altogether.

Yep. Like a nostalgia act playing all their “hits” because they have no new material.
I’m going to send Abdul el-sayed to the senate. He’s a progressive who supports us.
I wish all this money could go towards something productive
Like housing the homeless or feeding the hungry.
What a waste of 100 million dollars.

So we could take comfort that he isn't spending the money on Dems who haven't capitulated?
I'm reaching for good news here, some tin lining.
Thank you Baum.

I suggest the beach on North Sentinel Island.

Someone who thinks he's going to live happily on Mars has noteworthy holes in his thinking cap, so I don't see this as very surprising...
