Yippee Skippee! Good on Folx Health for sponsoring you! I would also like to suggest Callen-Lorde if you live in the NYC area, as thanks to them, I was taught how to take Estradiol Valerate intramuscularly! https://callen-lorde.org
Thank you for making sure we are informed about this, Erin!! I am so happy to learn that the court ruled in favor of upholding this child’s constitutional rights. If CNN is correct that January told the school that if the child requested a different name and pronouns among teachers, she wouldn’t stop them, then that’s rather confusing that she then turned around and was upset over the meeting. I’m also surprised to hear that a judge appointed by Trump arrived at a conclusion that supported the child as well! Let’s hope the court continues to rule in a way that upholds and affirms the rights and dignity of the transgender community!!
Yeah I’m fascinated to read the actual ruling and see if they cited the emails that CNN and others reported on previously, which basically show that not only were the parents aware, the school district was literally doing exactly what they were told to do.
I read through the opinion and the emails weren't mention, which I think is great news because the court ruling essentially means that parents knowledge or lack of knowledge doesn't matter, the schools actions to support the child were on solid ground.
...now if only we could get a court to agree that children do not give up their Constitutional rights by living under the same roof as their bigoted asshat parents.
Awesome news! I find it really interesting that this ruling came from the conservative 11th circuit.
I read the full opinion and a couple things stood out to me -
1) On the three judge panel, there was one democratic appointed judge and two republican appointed judges (including one Trump appointee).
2) The decision was unanimous.
3) There is some very well established case law that governs whether schools administrators qualified immunity can be breached (i.e. damages can be awarded in a lawsuit) -
To meet this threshold, an action must be more than mere negligence; it must involve intent, recklessness, or deliberate indifference to the rights and safety of individuals.
Even the Trump appointee who said he was grumpy about the whole thing from moral standpoint had to concede that the safety of the child was not compromised by the schools actions.
However, this case law applies because Florida doesn't have a law requiring schools to out their students. If Florida passed a law like that, the 11th circuit would be doing a different kind of legal analysis and might come to a different conclusion.
What amazes me is that in 169 pages the decision doesn't mention Tinker v. Des Moines once! Isn't this essentially about the student's free speech rights to say who they are?
Now report on Payton McNabb and how she lied that a transwomen hit her in the head with a spiked volley ball. After the incident, she played in several other sports, but no one seems to know who the girl who spiked the ball was. There appears to be evidence that this girl was cis not trans.

Also very happy to hear this. I've had nothing but a positive experience with them in Colorado.
Callen-Lorde has a presence in Colorado? That's really good to hear!
Sorry I should have been more specific, I was referring to Folx.
Ah, I see. My mistake!
No worries at all!

Oh that’s fantastic, actually!

Hooray!
Wonderful news! I want to add, I was in 3 meetings with that woman (January) and she radiates hate. I feel so sorry for her child.
Halleluja!

Yes! Bigots do not understand this issue, unsurprisingly.
Some good news for once.
HUZZAH!

The people who out, or otherwise harm lgbtq and especially trans students, should be removed. Permanently removed

Thanks for this news ~ I was feeling rather grim yesterday and this lifted my spirits.
Hang On All You Beautiful People, Let's Hang On to Each Other!
I love the quote about not giving up constitutional rights upon enrollment.
Hurray!
